With the first round concluded, the City Sectio Championship Division playoffs, which resume Wednesday, should ratchet up in intensity because the stakes are higher. A guaranteed berth in the state playoffs await the four teams that make it to the semifinals on Friday.

I wish had had the chutzpah to predict an upset in the Westchester-Crenshaw, Taft-Dorsey, Fairfax-Washington, and Fremont-Cleveland games.

But all four home teams -- Taft, Fremont, Fairfax and Westchester -- look to be too strong, especially on their turf.

I give Cleveland the best chance at an upset because, against Fremont, it has the most even matchup in the four games. And Fremont, which primarily depends on 6-7 players, is always a sprained ankle away from disaster.
