Girls’ basketball: Long Beach Poly is locked into the national No. 3 spot

The No. 3 isn’t so bad.

Babe Ruth batted in the No. 3 hole. Ludwig Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 was a smash hit -- uh, you know what I’m saying. And bachelor No. 3 on the Dating Game always had the same odds as No. 1 and No. 2.

But, for the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits, they’ve been locked into the No. 3 slot in USA Today’s Super 25 ranking for three weeks now. Not that it’s a wretched spot. Just saying it’s becoming a wee-bit predictable.

Let’s see what happens on Feb. 27 -- that’s when the national rankings are updated.

But first let’s see if the Jackrabbits (22-2) can hop past San Juan Capistrano Serra (21-7) on Wednesday night in the Southern Section Division I-AA playoffs.
