Mater Dei dominating what is a friendly affair for some

While it looks like Mater Dei is going to take tonight’s Division I-AA boys’ basketball playoff game against Harvard-Westlake thanks to its 63-36 lead at the end of the third quarter, that doesn’t mean Austin Kelly and Gary Franklin (pictured at left) can’t be friends anymore.

For the last two years, Franklin and Kelly have played together on the California Supreme and both were excited about facing each other on the hardwood for the first time.

I just hope Franklin is kind enough not to rub tonight’s sure-to-be victory in Kelly’s face too much. After all, both are playing a vital role in their respective teams’ efforts.
