Until now, Bell-Jeff‘s road to the championship hadn’t left Burbank. After three consecutive playoff home games, the Guards finally travel to another school for Saturday’s Division IV-AA semifinal against Mesa Grande Academy.

Although the game will technically be at a neutral site, Loma Linda Academy, the Guards are considered the visitors and it’ll be interesting to see if the long bus ride or the switch to dark colored uniforms affects their psyche.

The second-seeded Guards (24-5) are riding an eight-game winning streak that includes consecutive playoff blowouts of Maricopa, Saddleback Valley Christian and St. Margaret’s. The Cardinals (26-4) have won 12 straight games and are undefeated at home.

This is Bell-Jeff’s chance to prove itself a road warrior. Can the Guards do it?
