Boys’ basketball: The Eagles’ 20-point lead over Compton even stuns their coach

Nobody could believe the score. Not the fans. Not the reporters. Not even Santa Margarita Coach Jerry DeBusk, who glanced at the scoreboard and saw his Eagles leading Compton by 20 points in the third quarter of a Division I-AA playoff quarterfinal.

‘Oh, Lord no,’ DeBusk said afterwards when asked if he thought his team could build a 20-point lead over Compton. ‘This Compton is very good.’
