The Bombardment on Bristol is mercifully over.

The Mater Dei boys’ basketball team made 12 of 20 three-point attempts, including nine of 12 in the first half, to highlight a 76-43 victory over Capistrano Valley in a Southern Section Division I-AA boys’ basketball playoff quarterfinal at Mater Dei.

Travis Wear scored a team-high 18 points for the second-seeded Monarchs and Gary Franklin and David Wear scored 15 each.

Capistrano Valley didn’t have anyone with more than 11 points.

The Monarchs sure looked like a top-seeded team to me, but hopefully they’ll get a chance to prove it next Saturday against Dominguez.

But first, it’s on to Tuesday’s semifinals.
