Sitting at press row, you tend to hear some interesting things, so I feel it necessary to share a funny moment that happened during the first half of Saturday morning’s Southern Section Division III-AA championship game between Campbell Hall and Price at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

First, let me update the score: The Vikings are up, up big, 43-19, at halftime, due in large part to the play of Austin McBroom. The freshman is playing the game of his life and has 11 points in the first half. In fact, he’s got the Campbell Hall faithful in the stands behind me shouting: ‘Austin we love you!’

Which brings me to my point, finally. My colleague, Austin Knoblauch, who I’m sitting next to, thought the fans were yelling, ‘Austin we love you!’’ to him. Obviously, the comments were directed toward McBroom. Common mistake, I suppose. Knoblauch, the kind soul his is, obliged with: ‘Thank you.’

Classic moment.
