It took me a while, but I finally made it over to the Sports Arena after spending a majority of the day at the Southern Section boys’ basketball championships at the Honda Center in Anaheim. And wouldn’t you know, got here just in time to grab a courtside seat next to City Section guru Mike Terry and catch the first half of the Championship Division game between Chatsworth and Narbonne.

The top-seeded Chancellors opened up a 10-6 lead in the early going. Third-seeded Narbonne answered shortly thereafter, using a 12-2 run get back into the game in the second quarter. The Gauchos sustained the momentum and lead 29-27 at the half, behind Reiko Thomas’ 11 points. Monica Jackson has a team-high 11 points for Chatsworth.
