Just got off the phone with La Canada assistant coach R.T. Van Valer a few minutes ago and he didn’t sound terribly pleased. Must have something to do with the fact the visiting Spartans trail fourth-seeded La Jolla, 28-21, at halftime of Tuesday’s Division III quarterfinal game of the Southern California Regional playoffs.
