Well, that was fun.

Shortly after the Long Beach Poly and Berkeley girls’ basketball teams tipped off in the girls’ Division I state final, my wife calls to inform me our guinea pig died today.

Talk about letting the air out of my balloon.

Good thing this game didn’t require much concentration, as the Jackrabbits thoroughly dominated Berkeley in the second half and won, 55-31, at Arco Arena in Sacramento.

Speaking of guinea pigs, I expected Berkeley to have more of a shelf life in this game, but the Yellow Jackets were also a little stiff. Maybe their favorite pet died too.

Anyway, it’s on to the Division I boys’ final and then a morning-flight home, because I have a feeling that guinea pig will still be waiting for me when I get there.
