I think it goes without saying that today is the final day of the basketball season. Sure, there will be some all-star games, but with the arrival of the state championships, I think it’s fair to call this season done.

Which is why I find it ironic that today is the day that the icon for Varsity Times Insider, left, changed from a football player to a basketball player.

If you can’t tell, that’s Jasmine Dixon of Long Beach Poly, who, within the hour is set to begin the final high school game of her fantastic career. Poly takes on Berkeley at 6 p.m, and the Jackrabbits will try to win their third consecutive Division I state championship. The game can be seen live on FSN Prime Ticket.

Afterward, stick around and watch the Division I boys’ game between Oakland McClymonds and Dominguez.
