The one sure thing about prep baseball is there is no sure thing.

A win Los Angeles seemingly had wrapped up over Venice almost completely unraveled in the seventh inning. The Gondoliers turned a 6-1 yawner into a 6-5 nailbiter before the Romans finally prevailed in RBI Tournament pool play Monday at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

The goat would have been Roman reliever Christopher Gonzalez, who was primarily responsible for the Gondoliers scoring four runs in the seventh, although only two runs would be charged to his ERA.

But Gonzalez ended the uprising by striking out Venice first baseman Keaton Frey with two on to end the game.
