Not surprisingly, Jasmine Dixon is beginning to rake in awards like she has state championships. The senior who led Long Beach Poly to a third consecutive Division I state title with a victory over Berkeley has been named Southern Section Division I-AA Player of the Year by the Southern California Interscholastic Coaches Assn.

Dixon was one of three Poly players named to the first team, along with April Cook and junior Monique Oliver. Poly Coach Carl Buggs and his Moore League rival, Long Beach Millikan’s Lorene Morgan, shared coach of the year honors.
