Girls basketball: Esperanza coach steps down

Citing a conflict with a work schedule that didn’t allow him to make the same commitment to the basketball team he oversaw, Matt Roberts has resigned after nine seasons -- four as head coach -- at Esperanza.

He replaced long-time coach Marc Hill, and in four seasons guided the Aztecs to two league titles and an 81-34 record.
