Bottom of the fifth inning here at the Anaheim Lions round-robin game between Capistrano Valley and Thousand Oaks.
Capistrano Valley shortstop Brent Cash laid down a perfect two-out bunt to drive in the tying run from third in the bottom of the fourth and we’re still knotted at 1-1 at Boysen Park in Anaheim.
An inning before, Thousand Oaks right-hander Chad Smith preserved his then-shutout by snagging a comebacker to start a 1-2-3 inning-ending double play.
No snack bar here, no announcer to mispronounce every other name and no obnoxious students to irritate anyone within earshot, just me and a bunch of other hard-core fans, scouts and parents. The way baseball should be played.
