Turns out, Boysen Park in Anaheim is not only a fine place to watch a baseball game, but it also provides a clear view of the nightly fireworks show at Disneyland.

I guess Capistrano Valley second baseman Jordan Castro was enjoying the view as well, because he booted consecutive grounders in the top of the sixth inning, allowing Thousand Oaks to score two runs and take a 3-1 lead in a round-robin game at the Anaheim Lions tournament.

Castro had a chance to redeem himself in the bottom of the sixth, coming to the plate with teammates on first and third and one out. He hit a one-hopper up the middle that should have been an inning-ending double play, but the Thousand Oaks second baseman bobbled the grounder and the Lancers were only able to get the force at second, allowing the runner from third to score and cut the deficit to 3-2.

Unfortunately, that’s as close as the Cougars would get.

At least they got a free fireworks show.
