There’s a girl named Turquoise Thompson. Great name. Even better track star. But she has a big dilemma. Thompson cannot compete in CIF Southern Section track events after transferring from Long Beach Poly to Gardena Serra. She’s been deemed ineligible, according to some cockamamie CIF stipulation.

Thompson wanted to be with her mom, who coaches the Serra track team, and so she left Poly in February.

The rule which Thompson supposedly violated is called ‘the undue influence transfer rule’ -- um, the undue what? Come on, just let the kid run. Why deprive?

Thompson, who has filed an appeal, is still running. And still winning. She competed at the California Relays at Cerritos College on Saturday and won the open women’s 400-meter hurdles in 1:02.68 and placed second in the open 400 meters in 54.29.

Great job, Turquiose.
