Wood commits to play in Army All-American bowl

He already has 14 scholarship offers on the table, and now Santa Clara RB Cierre Wood is planning to keep the first weekend of 2009 open so he can play in one of the nation’s most distinguished high school all-star games.

According to Scout.com, Wood has committed to play in the 2009 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Wood, who rushed for more than 2,600 yards as a junior en route to leading the Saints to the Mid-Valley Division title, is one of the most-sought after RB prospects in the nation.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait at least until late September before we’ll know if he’s been chosen to represent the West Team in the annual showcase, which will be played on Jan. 3 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Tex. There’s plenty of football to still be played between now and then.
