Of all the teams I thought had a chance of breaking Quartz Hill‘s 22-game Golden League winning streak, Knight wasn’t one of them. I realize Knight went 9-3 in league last year -- including a hard-fought, 1-0 loss to Quartz Hill -- and last week’s victory over Palmdale illustrated this team is playoff-ready. However, I still thought the Rebels were in a different league.

But my heavenly opinion of Quartz Hill took a nosedive Tuesday evening when I heard about Brittney Peterson driving in the game-ending run in the bottom of the seventh to dissolve a two-run deficit in the Hawks’ 9-8 victory over the Rebels. It marked Knight’s first victory over Quartz Hill and proved this year’s Golden League title race will be one of the most contested league races in the region.

So which team do you think will win the Golden League title? Highland seems to be the new favorite, thanks to its 3-0 league start. Quartz Hill and Lancaster still have a good shot, and Knight seems capable of joining the championship hunt.

We should have some answers in a couple weeks, after Highland plays Lancaster and Quartz Hill.
