He plays at a football school but pitcher Kenneth Williams is making a name for himself on the mound, not the gridiron.

The 5-foot-10 senior left-hander is the pitching ace for Dorsey and he’s racking up strikeouts by the bucketful. In fact, he has 49 Ks in 33 1/3 innings this season, including a career-high 20 in the Dons’ eight-inning victory over Manual Arts on Thursday.

‘Kenny has pitched great for us, he just needs to cut down on his walks,’ Coach Peter Dobson said. ‘He’s got a good fastball but it’s not overpowering. The offspeed is really his best pitch.’

His 2-3 record is not an accurate measure of how well the Dons’ three-year starter is throwing. One example was his outing against Washington. against whom he had 13 strikeouts but lost because Dorsey failed to score.

Dobson admitted he has little in the way of relief pitching, so Dorseys’ fate is in the hands, or make that the arms of Williams and fellow senior lefty Alex Donald.
