How strong is the West Valley League? Considering that the last nine City Section champions have come out of that league, I’d say it’s Herculean. This season is no exception.

Chatsworth was the overwhelming favorite before the season started and while it may yet go undefeated, it won’t go unchallenged. One week after being pushed to the limit by rival Taft the Chancellors survived another five-game test from upset-minded El Camino Real on Wednesday, ultimately prevailing 18-25, 25-19, 25-15, 20-25, 15-12 on their home floor.

With four league contests left, including rematches with Taft and defending City champion Granada Hills, the Chancellors aren’t out of the West Valley woods just yet. Should Chatsworth run the table its likely reward will be the top seed in the playoffs, which begin May 1. Click here to view Chatsworth’s remaining regular season schedule.
