He didn’t play with the Pac-5 powers or make a name for himself throwing touchdown passes or breaking off long runs, but Logan Sewell of Brea Olinda did distinguish himself as the Southland’s top punter in 2007.

Sewell is the only member of The Times All-Star team to be named to the North squad for the 49th Orange County North-South All-Star football ball game presented by the Brea Lions Club.

Sewell averaged 42.8 yards per punt, had an 85-yard kick, and placed 17 punts inside the 20 yard line for the Wildcats. Of course, if the North squad does well, Sewell’s specialty might not even be needed for Canyon Coach Brent McKee’s team.

Among those that McKee will be leaning on are quarterback Chris Morales, who guided La Habra to a Southern Section Southeast Division title, all-purpose receiver Ryan Saumur, who helped underdog Cypress win the Southern Division championship, and defensive lineman Trace Wilson, who had 14 sacks for Southwest Division champion El Dorado.

Kickoff is July 11, 7:15 p.m., at Orange Coast College. Tickets are $9 presale at Orange County high schools after May 5, or $10 on site. Advance tickets also available through Brea Lions Club at (714) 524-3335.
