Basketball: Westchester center gains fifth year of eligibilty

The City Section rules committee has granted 6-foot-9 center Auri Allen of Westchester a fifth year of athletic eligibility based on a hardship waiver.

Allen originally attended Verbum Dei, then moved to Las Vegas and transferred to Westchester this past year but didn’t play for the Comets.

In other action Tuesday by the rules committee, girls’ basketball Coach Nicole Perkins of Banning has been suspended from coaching in the first game next season and the program has been placed on probation for forfeiting a playoff game to Chatsworth.

Wilson girls’ basketball Coach Maricela Rodriguez has been suspended from coaching in three games next season for using a player who had been ejected from her previous game.
