Remember Patrick Colwell? He was a star for Mayfair a couple years ago.

Well, this kid pulled off a first-ever feat in San Diego State’s 60-plus years of varsity baseball history: He hit for the cycle during a 9-2 Mountain West Conference win over Utah on Saturday at Tony Gwynn Stadium.

Few other things you should know about Colwell: He bats leadoff, he’s hitting .333 and, most impressively, he’s playing as a walk-on sophomore. He also played for the 2003 Pony World Series champions.

OK, now, how rare is hitting for the cycle? Last year, only three major leaguers did it -- Fred Lewis, Marc Ellis and Aubrey Huff.
