An eight-run fourth inning has propelled Newhall Hart to an 11-3 lead over Valencia after four innings in a game for first place in the Foothill League.

Hart sent 13 batters to the plate in the inning, and Valencia made four errors, three by freshman shortstop Christian Lopes. Devin Rodriguez had Hart’s big, a two-run double.

The wind is blowing, enabling Jenzen Torres to hit a two-run home run for Hart. Bryan Lucas also homered for the Indians. Lopes homered for Valencia.

The big surprise is that Hart right-hander Trevor Bauer looks hittable for the first time this season. Bauer came in having allowed only one earned run in 34 1/3 innings, but he gave up two runs in the first inning and has been trying to regain his dominating form since.
