Maybe Chatsworth Coach Tom Meusborn should think twice before scheduling Narbonne next season. I’m kidding of course, though it’s beginning to look as if the Gauchos have his team’s number.

For the second year in a row, Narbonne dealt the Chancellors a loss on their field and in their own tournament -- this time courtesy of Salvador Ramos’ single that drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning of the Gauchos’ 8-5 victory.

Ramos had three hits on the day and scored Narbonne’s final run on Juan Avila’s two-RBI single. Carlos Avila struck out three in two hitless relief innings to earn his first victory of the season.

The win was important for purposes of seeding in the City playoffs. If the Gauchos can beat out Banning for the Marine League title (they are currently tied for first place), they’ll finish the regular season with more than 20 wins.

Where earlier losses to El Camino Real and Cleveland weakened the Gauchos’ argument for the No. 1 seed, their latest victory will certainly strengthen it.
