Vista Murrieta’s inability to defeat Temescal Canyon has made the Southwestern League baseball race as tight as can be heading into the final six games. Vista Murrieta and Temecula Valley are tied for first at 7-2. They’re scheduled to meet in a home-and-away series next week.

Vista Murrieta, ranked No. 10 in the Southland by The Times, lost two of three to Temescal Canyon, which is 10-10 and 4-5 in league play. The latest setback came Friday, when the Broncos lost to visiting Temescal Canyon, 6-1. They defeated Temecula Valley, 1-0, in their only meeting on April 1.

Vista Murrieta’s problems seem to stem from its offense -- or lack thereof. The Broncos have scored three runs or less in six of their last eight games. Obviously, they’ve been watching too many Dodger games.
