We can’t argue with history. History guides us to the present. History predicts the future.

Yet, the other day, Torrance defied history in squashing big, bad San Pedro, 9-1, in a tournament game and became the first non-Marine League team from the South Bay to beat San Pedro since South Torrance won in 2000.

Torrance could be making some history as well. The Tartars (17-3, 4-0) are winners of 12 of 13 and find themselves in a tie for first place with 23rd-ranked North Torrance (15-6, 4-0).

And this is where it gets good, Torrance and the Saxons will have a Pioneer League scrum on Wednesday at North Torrance at 3:15 p.m. Let’s see which team wants to seize some history.
