Was bored sitting around the office this afternoon, so I figured I’d pass the time by doing a little research on Roberto Nelson. The goal was to find out if there was any new recruiting information about the basketball standout from Santa Barbara on the Internet.

And surprisingly enough, updates were hard to come bye.

Scout.com and Rivals.com hadn’t written much about Nelson recently, which was odd considering both have him ranked among the top 100 players in the Class of 2009. In fact, one of the services hadn’t spoken to the 6-foot-3 junior in weeks, the other, in months. Go figure...

So, I called him on his cell phone and he had plenty to talk about: ‘Honestly, this is going to be a big summer for me -- the next year is going to big for me,’’ Nelson said. ‘I’ve been talking to a lot of schools over the past couple of months. I have a lot of options right now.’’

Several programs from the PAC-10 have been in contact with him, including Cal, Washington, UCLA and USC. Other expressing interest include: Nebraska, Utah, and Ohio St. Can’t forget to mention the fact his hometown team, UC Santa Barbara, is in the mix too.

‘I don’t have a dream school or a favorite right now,’’ Nelson said. ‘Well, there’s a couple of schools I like, but I’m not sure if I’m supposed to talk about them. Don’t want to get anyone in trouble. My plan is to keep working on my game, keep improving. If I do that, things will fall in to place.’’
