Northview did it, the Vikings really did. They beat Ganesha, 8-2, to win the Valle Vista League title for a second-consecutive season and a fifth time in nine years.

This is not a surprise, of course. Northview, ranked No. 17 in the Southland by The Times, started league play without giving up a run in 38 innings -- that was five games, five shutouts.

On Friday, Marc Andrade hit a two-run home run and catcher Robert Williams was three for three to lift the team to victory.

Next up for Northview is some unfinished business in the playoffs. Last year Northview was within three outs of advancing to the section finals at Dodger Stadium when Santa Monica came back and scored four runs in the seventh to win, 5-4.
