Crespi right-hander Tyler Johnson did his job Tuesday night. He has pitched five innings, and Crespi holds a 2-1 lead over top-ranked Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.

Johnson has struck out five, walked none and given up only two hits. Now comes decision time for Crespi Coach Scott Muckey. He has run his team like a major-league squad, bringing in hard-throwing relievers Ryan Hawthorne and Sean Gilmartin to close out games.

Hawthorne has gone down to the bulpen to start warming up. But Johnson is throwing so well he might be difficult to pull. Gilmartin has eight saves this season, and it’s a given he’ll be coming in shortly.
