With Moorpark‘s 6-5 victory over Calabasas on Thursday, the Musketeers will play Westlake on Friday at 3:30 p.m. to determine which team receives the Marmonte League‘s final playoff spot. The elimination game will take place at Amgen Field in Thousand Oaks.

Westlake, Moorpark and Calabasas finished tied for fourth place in the league on Wednesday, forcing a two-game elimination round to determine which would get the league’s final playoff berth.

I have no idea which team will win on Friday, but Westlake is my favorite even though the Musketeers have beaten them twice. The Warriors are loaded with skilled players, such as two-sport standout Jordan Mannisto, pictured, and it would be bizarre if they didn’t make the postseason. But I guess that’s why the Marmonte League is perhaps the most-competitive league in the Southland.

Oh, and one more non-related Marmonte League topic -- congratulations to Crespi for taking the Mission League title on Thursday.
