A five-run sixth inning has enabled defending Southern Section Division I champion Long Beach Wilson to take a 9-0 lead over Edison in a playoff opener at Blair Field.

Two-run doubles by Zach Wilson and David Terrazas have given pitcher Aaron Hicks a comfortable lead. The Bruins had been unable to break open the game against Edison right-hander Kurt Heyer until he seemed to tire in the sixth, then got two doubles off his replacement, freshman Henry Owens.
