I was hoping to see an exciting race, or two, during Thursday’s City Section preliminaries at Birmingham High and I got exactly what I was looking for in the 100 meters as Reseda’s Giovanne Dixon and Crenshaw’s DeAnthony Morgan (oops, make that DeAnthony Thomas) finished in a dead heat, tying for first in a time of 10.84 seconds.

The 200 meters wasn’t nearly as eventful. Crenshaw’s Antwan Titus won easily, crossing the finish line in 21.51, well ahead of Washington Prep’s Devin Forte (21.63) in second place and Birmingham’s Matthew Robertson (21.75), who finished third.
