La Palma Kennedy may be the No. 1 team in the Southern Section-Toyota Division II playoffs -- heck, this week it is ranked No. 15 in the nation -- but it sure didn’t get a soft touch for its first-round game.

El Dorado, despite its 13-14 record, has beaten Anaheim Canyon, which ended the regular season ranked No. 11 by The Times. The Golden Hawks defeated Canyon in the last round of league play, 3-1, on March 28, as Brooke Hughes, Raven Richardson and Ellyn Troup had RBIs. At the time, Canyon was ranked No. 8.

To which Eddy responded: ‘I was there and about died.’
