Baseball: Maywood is top-seeded for City’s Small Schools playoffs

Maywood, the second-place finisher from the Southern League with a 14-7 overall record, has been seeded No. 1 in the City Section’s Small Schools Division baseball playoffs.

Seeded second is Sherman Oaks CES (13-6), with Community Harvest (14-5) third and L.A.CES (15-10) fourth.

The first-round games on Friday: No. 8 Harbor Teacher Prep (7-11) at No. 1 Maywood, No. 5 Northridge (10-7) at No. 4 L.A.CES (15-10), No. 6 Discovery Prep (4-11) at No. 3 Community Harvest (14-5) and No. 7 Elizabeth (7-10) at No. 2 S.O.CES.

The championship game will be 4 p.m. May 30 at USC’s Dedeaux Field.
