Track and field: Atascadero’s Teunissen soars in pole vault

Atascadero’s AJ Teunissen won the Southern Section-Toyota Division III boys’ pole vault championship Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College with a jump of 16 feet. Teunissen, a senior, was the only competitor to clear that mark.

Blake Mason of Fountain Valley won the Division I championship and Matt Cooper of Mater Dei won the Division II championship, each with jumps of 15 feet. Dusty Brown of St. Paul won the Division IV title with a jump of 14-6.

The boys’ pole vault participants advancing to Friday’s Masters meet:
