Track and field: Poly powers though the girls’ 400 meters

Freshman Akawkaw (Coco) Ndipagbor led a 1-2-3 sweep of the top positions in the girls’ 400 meters in Division I at the Southern Section-Toyota Championships at Mt. SAC.

Ndipagbor, pictured, clocked a meet-best 53.46. She let up right at the end of her strong run and fell just short of her state-best time of 53.43 seconds.

She was followed to the finish by Jasmine Joseph and Tanisha Hawkins. All three qualified for Friday’s Masters meet at Cerritos College.

Kyle Wolff of Woodbridge won in Division II, Brittany Harper of Calabasas in Division III, and Carlyle Davis of Marlborough in Division IV.
