Track and field: San Clemente’s Dunne gets it done again

San Clemente’s Alexandra Dunne will take home two Southern Section-Toyota track and field Division I championships Saturday from Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.

Dunne, after having won the girls’ 1,600 title, won the 3,200 race in a time of 10:49.03, edging Saugus freshman Kaylin Mahoney, who ran it in 10:50.69. Crescenta Valley’s Claire Collison and Rachel Lange came in third and fourth with times of 10:56.15 and 10:56.84, respectively. Dunne and Mahoney were so good that they lapped some of the late finishers.

A junior, Dunne will compete in 1,600 and 3,200 at the Masters meet on Friday at Cerritos College. She will go against Christine Babcock of Woodbridge in both events. Babcock, a senior, won the the 1,600 and 3,200 races in Division II.
