Track and field: There’s sprint speed aplenty at St. Mary’s

Yasmin Woodruff of St. Mary’s Academy ran a state-best 11.65 seconds to win the Division IV title at the Southern Section-Toyota Championships at Mt. SAC on Saturday.

Woodruff and teammate Lor’Rena De’Jurnett each qualified for Friday’’s Masters meet at Cerritos College. DeJurnett clocked a second-place 11.83.

Valexsia Droughn of Rio Mesa, who had been the section leader in the event coming into the day, ran 11.72 to win in Division III. It was third-best at the meet. Jessica Davis of Highland won Division I at 11.69, and Norwalk’s Cindy Robinson won Division II.

The girls’ who qualified in the 100 meters for the Masters meet:
