Crespi is the Southern Section-Toyota Division III boys’ track and field champion, after all.

The Celts had finished a point back of Orange Lutheran on Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College, but further review of a disqualification by Crespi 400-meter runner Mark Watley resulted in Watley’s victory being reinstated. That gave the Celts enough points to leapfrog ahead of Orange Lutheran for the division title.

Watley had been disqualified for stepping on a lane line during the race, but according to a Southern Section press release, Watley was misidentified. Section spokesman Thom Simmons said the runner who did step on the line did not earn any points in the race and was not a Masters Meet qualifier.

Another person affected by this reversal is Dominguez runner Kivon Grant, who was the eighth and final qualifier for Masters, but will now be an alternate.
