After blowing a 5-2 lead in the top of the seventh, Anaheim Canyon made it interesting in the bottom half of the inning against top-seeded Los Alamitos, scoring a run to pull to within 7-6, but it ended there as Gabe Garcia, the starting pitcher who threw 122 pitches before leaving after walking the lead-off batter to start the top of the seventh, was picked off first to end the game.

Word is, the Griffins will host Mater Dei on Friday in the quarterfinals. That should be a great game.

Los Alamitos got a little dinged up, as catcher Brian Compton split open his head after getting hit with a bat on a follow through by Alex Najera, and shortstop Kirk Singer twisted an ankle when he got his spikes caught on the infield dirt while getting into fielding position before a pitch. Singer is the more questionable of the two in regards to a quick return.

Luckily, for the Griffins, the bad luck ended there.
