Baseball: West Torrance wins as Oslund wows

He was in a good mood -- no, a great one.

‘Everything’s going the way it should, the boys are swinging the bats and we’re 27-3,’ said West Torrance Coach Juan Cueva after his Warriors beat Placentia Valencia, 8-1, in the Southern Section-Toyota Division II second round this evening.

Marc Oslund, who just signed to play college ball at Brigham Young, picked up the win, improving to 8-0, and added a two-run homer and RBI double. ‘He was our shining star today,’ Cueva said.

West Torrance will look for more shining stars when it plays El Toro (22-7) in the quarterfinals on Friday.
