Nothing can cause more anxiety in a coach than erratic pitching. That said, nothing can soothe a haggard coach’s soul more than a sturdy starter. ‘The way Aubray was pitching today kept everything calm,’ said Lakewood Coach Andy Miramontes. ‘Everybody could stay loose.’

Miramontes was discussing his ace, Aubray Zell, and her superb outing this afternoon when she threw a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts in a 4-0 victory over Don Lugo in the Southern Section-Toyota Division II second round. ‘As a coach, that’s what you want -- to keep everybody at ease,’ he said.
