Softball: Norco gets a classic confrontation ... again

I don’t know why the Southern Section has it in for Norco, but for the second year in a row, it seems as if the fourth-seeded Cougars (27-5) are getting hammered over the head in a second round game in Division I.

Last year, Norco had to play host to El Toro in the second round (and won, 3-0).

This year, it’s Camarillo making the trip.

Now, I understand this is not the same Camarillo team of last season -- with the graduation of pitcher Lindsey Dean, how could it? -- but still ...

One of the best matchups of the day in any division should take place when Camarillo (21-9) is at the plate: It’s Delaney Willard batting against Teagan Gerhart. Willard is batting .420 with 27 runs, 31 RBIs and six homers, and Gerhart must be averaging about 11 or 12 strikeouts a game.

I’m real eager to see how that turns out as two of the best go at each other, both as a team and one-on-one.
