Softball: Don’t believe everything you hear (not even from me)

Hey, everyone was busy along media row at the Southern Section-Toyota Division I quarterfinal between fourth-seeded Norco and Hart, trying to get scores from other games and keeping track of all the strikeouts by pitchers Teagan Gerhart and Destiny Rodino.

I misunderstood one of the scores that I reported on earlier. I thought Jessica Spigner’s home run for third-seeded Valencia tied the score at 1-1 against Corona in its Division I game. But it was Valencia that had the one run when Spigner homered. The last I heard, Valencia was winning big (and by shutout).

I also heard that Corona Santiago was leading Thousand Oaks, 3-0. Didn’t hear what inning it was in, though.

Also, Garden Grove Pacifica won its Division II quarterfinal over third-seeded Lakewood, 1-0. Andrea Harrison doubled and then scored on an error.

Finally, top-seeded Crescenta Valley did win its Division III quarterfinal over Santa Monica, 3-0.

That’s all I’ve got for now. I’m in my car, parked on the street, escaping the cold, going to write the game story for Norco-Hart.
