Softball: Norco-Hart is, predictably, a pitcher’s duel

Through four innings, the Southern Section-Toyota Division I quarterfinal between third-seeded (make that fourth-seeded) Norco and Hart is living up to expectations.

Norco’s Teagan Gerhart has five strikeouts and has given up two hits. Hart’s Destiny Rodino has seven strikeouts and has given up only one hit.

Hart cleanup hitter Jessica Shults led off the second inning with a double, but Gerhart struck out the next three batters.

The only other threat came in the fourth. Norco’s Nicole Sappingfield singled with one out, took second on a grounder and then Rodino struck out cleanup hitter Brianna Smith.
