It’s official, D.J. Morgan is without peer.

The Taft High sophomore capped off an outstanding effort during Thursday’s City Section championships at Birmingham High by finishing first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 37.65 -- the second fastest mark in the state this year. But wait, it gets better.

Morgan won the 100 hurdles earlier in the afternoon, crossing the finish line in 14.28, the third-best time in the state this season. And for good measure, he sprinted past the competition in the 100 meters, narrowly winning in 10.80.
