It just so happens that Corrales is the great uncle of Valencia’s Josh Corrales, who started Friday’s Southern Section-Toyota Division I quarterfinal game against Simi Valley but left in the second inning after giving up three runs and four hits.

Steve Labrada came on in relief and has done a good job of keeping the Pioneers off balance thus far. Meanwhile, Josh Corrales has kept a watchful eye on the scoreboard, which reads: Simi Valley 3, Valencia 1. We’re heading into the top fourth inning -- updates to follow.
