Baseball: Simi Valley leads Valencia in Division I quarters

Remember Pat Corrales? Does the name ring a bell? He played in the majors from 1964 to 1973, and then coached for nine years in the big leagues with the Texas Rangers, Philadelphia Phillies and Cleveland Indians. Be patient, there is a point to this blog...

It just so happens that Corrales is the great uncle of Valencia’s Josh Corrales, who started Friday’s Southern Section-Toyota Division I quarterfinal game against Simi Valley but left in the second inning after giving up three runs and four hits.

Steve Labrada came on in relief and has done a good job of keeping the Pioneers off balance thus far. Meanwhile, Josh Corrales has kept a watchful eye on the scoreboard, which reads: Simi Valley 3, Valencia 1. We’re heading into the top fourth inning -- updates to follow.
