The Southern Section-Toyota individual championships are expected to start Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Seal Beach Tennis Center.

According to Weather.com, however, showers and thunderstorms are expected all day, starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m. Thursday’s downpour forced the postponement of softball games and so far the unexpected climate, which included tornadoes in Riverside and snow in May, has carried into today.

Both the Seal Beach Tennis Center and Southern Section office say today’s tennis event will begin as scheduled. Even though rain is not expected to be as severe as yesterday, don’t be surprised if not all of today’s scheduled round of 16 and quarterfinal matches are able to be completed. Semifinals and finals are scheduled for Saturday.

The picture of the truck was taken Thursday in Placentia near Esperanza High School. I took it while I was trying to make my way to the Simi Valley-Esperanza softball game. It was later postponed and I ended up covering Garden Grove Pacifica vs. Lakewood instead. The Simi Valley-Esperanza Division I quarterfinal game, by the way, will be played at Esperanza on Monday at 1 p.m.

Here’s another picture from near the same location.
